About the Publisher & Author

Dharman Wickremaratne is one of Sri Lanka's most experienced and best known environmental journalists. Dharman has been promoting the environmental message since 1984 as a journalist, trainer, activist and NGO lobbyist. He addresses issues such as population, ethnic and suicide prevention, natural resources, environmental education and justice. Also, he was a president of Thailand based Asia Pacific Forum of environmental journalists (APFEJ), Founder of the Bangladesh based  Commonwealth Environmental Journalists Association (CEJA) and Director of the Kenya based Environment Liaison Centre International (ELCI). He is the doyen of the concepts of environmental journalism and ethnic reporting in Sri Lanka, and is a leading development journalist who integrates different sections of media into one goal of professional journalism.

Dharman has traveled to nearly sixty Countries and author of over 20 environmental/ media books. He is recognized as a independent think-tank on sustainable ecology. He is the recipient of nine national and International conservation and media awards. He found and has developed the SLEJF http://www.environmentaljournalists.net as one of the largest environmental NGO's in Sri Lanka and the most active environmental journalists organization in the world.
