| The water tumbles down an impressive 52m drop. An elephant is said to have died after being swept along in the powerful torrent, hence the fall’s name. The area surrounding the fall is alive with wildlife, particularly birds, whose songs mingle with the sound of the rushing water. Situated near Akurassa town in the Matara district (in the Pitibaddara Divisional Secretariat Pavuruthota village’s GS area). If approaching from Morawaka town, head towards Neluwa for 5km to Ethu Ela junction. Turn left and continue for another 3km. If approaching from Akurassa town, take the Siyambalagoda Road to Pitabaddara town. From here it is a further 14km to the Ethu Ela junction, at which turn right and continue for 3km.
